The E36 is of course lighter, and will be friendlier to brakes and tires. The E46 M3 is also a good track car, but a bit more needy, and solidly more expensive to service. The interior build quality is unquestionably nicer than an E36, but if you're just looking for a track car, that shouldn't be much of a consideration.
e46 > e36 > e30 ive owned all 3 and honestly my favorite was the e46. reason why is because its just a perfect car( 330ci ) handled great, pretty quick , smooth ride, reliable, great interior, perfect body. the e36 is not bad of a car either i mean it handles great , its pretty quick , looks cool but its nothing like an e46 IMO. the e30 on the other hand is ehh its what ever to me. i had one
There are two inherent problems with early e36's. 1. the rear subframe mounts are subject to cracking this problem was adequately corrected by 1996. 2. another problem that occurered on most e36s where upper ball joints go bad early usually around 60-70000 miles.

Quick Guide to Oil in Your E36. This guide will help you understand what we recommend for your E36. This guide primarily focuses on the I6 models (M50, M50TU, S50, M52TU, S52), but is a good starting point for those of you with the I4s (M42 & M44). E36 is more reliable/less maintenance. Only down side to the e36 is if you have a Napoleon complex and have to have this big self image the e46 m3 is more attractive than the e36 to the general public. But you shouldnt be purchasing a car for an image in the first place lol. The e36 can look sick dumped on coilovers.
754. My Cars. 1994 325i. E36 325i is an amazing first car, take it from me. Get one that has been owned by an enthusiast, because they will be the ones that are the best taken care of, and maybe it'll come with a few mods, too. I'm in the same boat you are, timmer.

Good morning guys This is my e36. My grandfather bought it in 1998, when he stopped driving my mother has been using it and currently I am taking care of it as a weekend car. It's a 318IS e36, sport edition from 1998. The colour is Avusblau Metallic, and it has 122,000km -76000 miles on it.
Really, the E36 is the perfect enthusiast car. It blends modern technology with old-school analog fun for a perfect combination of fun and convenience. This most certainly accounts for why they have recently begun to climb in value. Keep in mind as well that e30 M3s are far rarer cars. They didn't sell very well here in the US originally. 16,000 e30 M3s were built vs over 70,000 e36 M3s. They're just not anywhere near as rare. There are a few e36 variants that hold up pretty well due to rarity. -M3 LTW: 120 made. -1994 Canadian Spec M3: 45 made. Cayman S, M240i, Lotus Evora, F-Type, Supra. That’s a stunner mate. Personally an E36 M3 is top of the “want” tree for me. The holy grail would be the Imola GT. However, if I was looking to move on from an E36 M3, the only car in the running would be an E46 CSL.

It’s all about the 36s with our latest icon-versus-underdog comparison: the E36 generation of the BMW M3 (1990–2000), and the Mercedes C36 AMG, which was based on the W202-generation C-Class (1993–2000). Launched in the first half of the 1990s, these cars were contemporary rivals, each fielding a high-revving inline-six-cylinder and rear

Unlike the E36 M3, the E46 M3 brought all the good stuff from Europe to the U.S. market. Attractive in coupe and convertible form with flared fenders and unique bodywork, the sedan version sat out
Cheap, readily available, with lots of aftermarket support does that for any car in rallying. At the end of the day, what are your goals? If it is to simply hang the ass-end out in a rallycar, you could do worse than a E36. If it is to become a good driver, that's a completely different goal.
The Toyota JZX family is one of the most commonly seen drift cars in Japan. Unfortunatley, these fantastic cars were never sold in the United States. However, some nice imported examples can be seen in the UK, Australia, and elsewhere. The most popular cars in this family are ones powered by Toyota's stout twin turbo 1JZ engine. There's a lot to consider if you're wondering whether the 2024 BMW M3 is a good car. Edmunds' expert testing team reviewed the 2024 M3 and gave it a 7.9 out of 10. Our consumer reviews show that
