Verdict. Modern Warfare 3 is a solid, albeit underwhelming entry in the Call of Duty franchise. The core gameplay is tight as ever, but a lack of thrilling new content, a mediocre campaign, and some questionable progression mechanics prevent it from reaching the same highs that games before it have.
That would just be silly. Collection 1, the first DLC pack for Modern Warfare 3, sticks to a path so well-trodden it’s become a trench. Which isn’t to say it’s not inventive, it’s just Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is having a tougher time than the average CoD. The MW3 campaign has drawn some serious criticism, in our own review especially, while recent player numbers suggest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's story picks up three years after the events of 2019's rebooted Modern Warfare. Captain Price's iconic Task Force 141 is now fully assembled and, of course, another Modern Warfare 3. Activision. I’m not sure this was exactly the narrative Activision thought would form when they released the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign as an early access bonus.Plot-wise, it’s basically Modern Warfare 2.5. The MW3 cast does an excellent job all around, with Price and Farah stealing the show, while Makarov’s introduction into the reboot series is captivating and psychopathic.
