These diffs can hold up to anywhere between 200 and 300 ft-lbs of torque (specific to ratio). The E36 323i/is/ic, 325i/is/ic, 328i/is/ic, and M3 (U.S.) came with "medium case" diffs. Remove the air-box. By disconnecting it from the MAF, it should lift out of the engine bay. Remove the alternator cooling duct attached via a large hose clamp. Simply loosen and lift. Using the 16mm socket on the tensioner pulley, loosen the serpentine belt and simply slip it off the alternator pulley.
